Student Voice
MCS Student Voice Team had a fantastic day in Dublin Castle, playing a key role in the day’s discussions with schools from all over Ireland. They were chosen along with just six other schools to facilitate discussions at the ACCS: Student Voice and Participation Conference. The three topics discussed were Student-Teacher Relationships, Wellbeing and Learning To Learn, with LC students also set to discuss Assessment. Our team of Ally Moynihan, Maeve Flynn and Jiery Wang researched the Student-Teacher Relationship topic with two focus groups set up within the school. They presented their findings to open the discussion and facilitated feeedback from round-table discussion groups. They presented the morning’s finding to a plenary discussion in the afternoon, gathering and sharing insights on the topic from the full group. Their work will shed new light on a vital aspect of secondary education, and add to evolving school development as well as informing future education policy through the ACCS Student Voice submission. As well as contributing to devloping education, the group have developed a fantastic skill set with research, teamwork, communication and presentation skills gained throughout their engagement with the project.
