Immerse in UCC

Eleven students ranging from 2nd to 5th year attended a special event in University College Cork on 15th September. They attended the IMMERSE project report launch. IMMERSE was a research project that ran for five years and involved eleven bodies in six different countries. The research centred on the socio-educational integration of migrant children across Europe. One of its aims is for the research findings to guide the decision makers in each country in how they provide supports for migrant children who come to countries like Ireland.

Apart from listening to presentations on the research findings, our students made memorable contributions to the event. Faith Akinbote (5th year) read a reflection she has written herself. Ema Zefi (3rd year) recited a self-penned poem. All eleven students took part in a recital of two poems: ‘The Human Family’ by Maya Angelou and ‘Healthy Communities’ by Tirapathi Chanrupatia.

The students involved were:

Faith Akinbote, Jemimah Williams (5th year), Katie McCaul, Sammy Murphy, Lwandle Luyanda Mpofu (TY), Ashlee Sibindi, Tandzile Pearl Mathunjwa, Ema Zefi, Kamaldeen Yaya (3rd year), Siyanda Vundhla, Fatima Malik (2nd year)
