Junior Soccer

A spirited performance by the Junior Boys’ Soccer team saw them lose out to Coláiste Pobail Bheanntraí in an entertaining fixture in Bantry on March 10th. Despite scoring two great goals, they went down 5-2 and never dropped their heads, battling it out to the last whistle.

A very entertaining game between two well matched teams. The Bantry side started very well and were 3-0 up midway through the first half. Millstreet, playing into the wind, showed great resilience to battle back. Hugh Lenihan’s opener came from a superb free kick and was quickly followed by a neat finish to round off an excellent counter attack at the very end of the half. 3-2 at the half-time break and MCS were hungry for more!

Bantry settled the nerves with a goal soon after the restart but Milstreet’s Josias Tambwe was a constant threat. The Bantry goalkeeper and midfield players were outstanding in keeping the home side’s lead intact before a goal in the final mintues put an end to any hopes of another MCS comeback.

A brilliant effort by our lads sees them finish their first season in Junior Soccer on somewhat of a high. We look forward to seeing further progress from a young, developing side in the coming years.
