Young Scientists arrive in RDS
The six Young Scientists groups are currently exhibiting their projects in the RDS in Dublin. All the hard work, research and compilation of findings has come to fruition and they will present and explain their research to the judges and the general public over the next few days.
The 6 teams and teachers, Mr. F. Lyons and Ms. D. O’Leary, departed Millstreet via train at 8.15am and arrived in Heuston station at 10.40am. They took a mini-bus to the Clayton hotel where they checked in and proceeded to RDS on foot.
BT staff and teachers assisted students in setting up the stand displays and posters. Everyone had lunch at RDS and the Opening Ceremony commenced at 2pm where they were entertained by music, speeches from sponsors and last year's winner. The highlight was the official opening address by President Michael D. Higgins.
All groups were put through their paces by their first judging on Wednesday afternoon and all returned back to freshen up at the hotel for 6pm before returning to the RDS for the Young Scientist Disco at 8pm. Students need to be ready to man their stands again for 9am in the morning. Everyone is enjoying the experience!
