Mary Kelleher Perpetual Cup Presented at Millstreet Community School

Millstreet Community School was honoured today to host Dr. Con and Nancy Kelleher for the inaugural presentation of the Mary Kelleher Perpetual Cup. This prestigious award, established in memory of the late Mary Kelleher, a beloved former colleague, celebrates outstanding student achievements in Junior Cycle History Classroom-Based Assessments (CBAs).

The event was a heartfelt occasion, as students, staff, and members of the Kelleher family gathered to pay tribute to Mary’s legacy. The perpetual cup, a stunning symbol of excellence, was formally presented by Dr. Con and Nancy Kelleher, with Zuzanna Nowak receiving the top honour. Jake Wang and Lucy O Sullivan were awarded joint second place, with all three students receiving cash prizes generously donated by Dr. Con Kelleher.

Speaking at the event, Con Kelleher and Nancy expressed his gratitude to the school for embracing this tribute to Mary.

The initiative was the result of a year-long collaboration between the Kelleher family and Millstreet Community School, ensuring that Mary’s impact on education continues to be remembered and celebrated. Special thanks were extended to Mary Bridget, Alison, and Paula for their invaluable assistance in organising the event.

The Mary Kelleher Perpetual Cup  will remain on display in the staffroom, serving as a lasting reminder of a much-missed educator’s dedication to her students. Future generations of history students will now have the opportunity to strive for excellence and honour Mary’s memory through their hard work and commitment.

Millstreet Community School is committed to fostering academic excellence, creativity, and personal growth among its students. Through initiatives like the Mary Kelleher Perpetual Cup, the school continues to celebrate and encourage student achievement while honouring the legacy of its esteemed former educators.
