Global Citizenship Winners

In the days running up to the Language and Culture Week (15th-19th April), 1st and 2nd students were tasked with researching and presenting country profiles based on the different nationalities in the school.  They did this with the guidance of a team of TY students and their RE and CSPE teachers. Once completed the profiles were displayed in the A corridor in school.  Questions were devised on these and all who attended the Celebration of Culture and Inclusion had the chance to take part a quiz based on the profile.  The prizes for each of the three winners of the quiz was a beautiful hamper kindly provided by Supervalu Millstreet.  Two of the winners were Patricia Healy and Zuzanna Krawiec, who are both pupils in tutorial 1X.

In November 2023, our school was recognised as a Champion School of Sanctuary. Continuing this theme of sanctuary in the weeks preceding the Language and Culture week an art competition was held.  Ms Sandra Moynihan (Art) asked students to design a poster around the theme of 'a place I feel safe'.  A number of very creative entries were received. The winners were in 3rd place: Zuzanna Krawiec (1X), 2nd place: Katie O’Riordan (2Y) and the overall winner was Otylia Lyczko (1Y). They each received a prize of a beautiful plaque which had been engraved by Mr Shane Breen (Wood Technology).

We are grateful for the support of Worldwise Global Schools (WWGS) in running this activity and with the GCE work undertaken in the school.
