BT Young Scientists

Two Young Scientist teams headed to the RDS on Wednesday, displaying the findings of their two projects to the public and judges at the annual exhibition. This is a core element of TY in MCS and the groups are continuing the school’s long tradition of qualifying for involvement in the January event.

“Pit or Bales- which is most sustainable?” is presented by Luke O’Connor, Emma Byrne and Robert O’Sullivan, and “A Statistical Analysis of the benefits, or not, of mandatory driving lessons on road traffic fatalities” is presented by Abbie Linehan, Emily Morris-Murray, Tara Kelleher. The group have been engaging with people’s questions and have been doing a great job in sharing their findings.

Thursday saw the entire Second and TY cohorts head to Dublin to learn about the application of STEAM subjects in solving practical problems or contributing to development in many areas of our lives. This trip will inspire future TY students to get ahead and have some ideas ready for entry in 2026!
