Language and Culture Week

A wide range of activities made sure all were engaged and had some fun celebrating Language and Culture week in MCS. Several competitions were run as part of the week. Ruby Lehane (1Z) along with Isabelle O'Keeffe (1Z) won the 'Nations Quiz' that held last week based on the country sheets produced by the 1st years and 2X.  These featured each of the countries represented in our school.  Ruby and Isabelle each won pair of blu-tooth wireless headphones.  Isabelle is flanked by TYs Conor O'Riordan and Patrick Murphy.

The art competition: the theme was 'belonging' - what does it mean to 'belong' to Millstreet Community School?  Great entries were received.  Third place went to Siyanda Vundhla (1Z).  In second place was Taylor Kiely (1Y) and the overall winner was Mary Farrissey (1Z).  Her prize was a €30 voucher kindly sponsored by Wordsworth Book and Gift Shop, Millstreet.

During the Celebration of Language and Culture, an abridged version of the Nations Quiz was run for audience members to take part in.  The first three prizes were hampers generously donated by Supervalu Millstreet.  Receiving the prizes for their families are, Seán Murphy (3X), Hannah Casey (2Y).  Somhairle Murphy (1Z) is joined by her mother Sinead for her photograph.
