Lourdes group Leader Thanks Millstreet
Vivienne Rattigan, Group Leader of Lourdes Volunteers and Guest Group 126, got in touch to thank the local community for thier continued support of the Lourdes Pilgrimages. “On behalf of Group 126, I would like to congratulate Holly and Rachel. I would like to thank their families, and I would like to thank the people of Millstreet for their continued and generous support of Group 126.” Vivienne also acknowledged the work of Chaplain John Magee, who has facilitated this opportunity for many years.
The two 5th year students from our school, Holly Dunne and Rachel Dineen, will be travelling to Lourdes at Easter as helpers with the Irish Pilgrimage Trust. They have engaged in fundraising activities and with the help of their families and the rest of the Millstreet community, have raised an incredible total of €4147. Thank you to everyone for your support. The people of Millstreet have been hugely supportive of two students from their Community School in their recent fundraising events. Holly Dunne and Rachel Dineen will travel as student carers at Easter with Group 126 of the Irish Pilgrimage Trust. Group 126 brings young people with additional needs to Lourdes for a week’s pilgrimage at Easter. The ten guests in 126 this year come from Cork City and County. Everyone is delighted to be travelling after Covid and families also look forward to a week’s respite.
Holly and Rachel’s cake sale and table quiz, along with the generous donations they received, raised an astonishing sum of €4147. From this amount, the girls’ fares of €750 each are paid and the remainder goes into the Group 126 fund. The funds raised cover flights, hotel accommodation, food and tours for the young people. All adult carers in the organisation pay their own way.
