Bishop Ray Visits MCS
We were delighted to receive Bishop Ray Browne to MCS on Friday last.
Bishop Browne, accompanied by Fr John Fitzgerald, enjoyed some homemade raspberry and white chocolate muffins in the Staffroom before viewing the refurbished Science labs, the Art room and the enormous quantity of new equipment in the Construction and Engineering rooms including the 3D printer which he found fascinating.
As he went about the school, Bishop Browne greeted and met students and staff alike with admirable lack of ceremony.
He even revealed to the LC Physics class that he has a degree in Maths, Physics and Computors. Ms English asked if he would like to teach the class but he graciously declined!
Bishop Browne then ventured on to meet the 2Z class who were magnificent in their questioning.
With considered and honest responses to every question, Bishop Ray had a rapt audience, but, to the dismay of some, chose Mesi over Ronaldo! He explained that he didn't follow a particular team but greatly admired Mesi's skill and precision. He also added he admires Modric.
When asked about the Israeli / Palestinian conflict, he highlighted some of the complexities of a region long caught in the mire of violence.
He spoke of treating people of all faiths and none with respect and dignity - a pithy and positive message with which to end the week.
Many thanks to Fr John and Bishop Browne for such a lovely visit.
