First Year Football Blitz

Back into school on your second Friday in MCS and no better way to ease into the weekend than the annual First Year football blitz- a fun competition involving the whole year group, with 5-a-side teams mentored by TY coaches. The whole year were buzzing heading off to the town park on a beautiful afternoon. TY students had planned the event carefully so the new students would have a fun-filled Friday evening. Four pitches were set up, co-ordinated by Claragh Cashman and Holly Saunders. The made sure all ran smoothly. Referees Cian McCaul, Caoimhe O’Mahony, Darragh Pierce and Alan Gajkowski kept oreder and Ellen Cronin took the snaps. The games showed some great skill and as the group stages were played out, the final took place between thew reds and the non-bibs, with the non-bibs emerging victorious. All returned to school tired but refreshed and even more ready for the year ahead.
