Language and Culture Week- Day 2
Day two of our Language and Culture Week. A busy day, with plenty fun activities, as well as fascinating guest speakers opening up the issues and helping build awareness and understanding on culture. All students in the school took part in a national flags competition, aiming to identify the 59 flags currently displayed in the school. Incredibly three pairs of students identified 58! The prizes for pair of winners from each tutorial was a large bar of Lidl's 'Way to Go' Fairtrade chocolate. We are very grateful to LIdl for kindly sponsoring these prizes. Following on from the first years yesterday who created Nigerian Fried Rice, the second year Home Economics students today made delicious Lentil Dall, again with the assistance of their teacher Ms Johnston and TY GCE students Lilian and Rachel. We were pleased to welcome Arran Towers and Nura Hagi (Mind the Gap) who ran workshops with first years on the theme of 'From Culture to Peace'. They explored the importance of being truly welcoming to people from a different country or culture who are new to our community.
We are grateful to WorldWise Global Schools (WWGS) for its support of this initiative.
