Jodie takes on the Dragons!

Congratulations to Jodie O'Callaghan, T.Y. who has been selected to represent Local Enterprise Office South Cork in the senior category at the National Final of the Student Enterprise Awards Competition 2019/2020.

Jodie’s business plan and product story will be subjected to a rigorous examination by judges with Dragons’ Den- style thoroughness, who can only be impressed by Jodie’s achievements.

Her product is the JK9, a a pet-themed wall hanging for keys and dog leads. (The name is a combination of Jodie's initial and K9 as an abbreviation of canine.)

To qualify for this level of the competition, Jodie had to demonstrate exceptional enterprising skills. Jodie's progress to date has seen her imagine a new, innovative and popular product; source raw materials and initiate a recycling scheme; impress supporters and get advice; design both a product and a method of mass production; develop wood-working skills; conduct market research; problem solve for a variety of issues; create a business plan; develop a marketing strategy- and this all led to a product that is so popular, Jodie's biggest problem now is keeping up with the demand. Jodie is delighted with her success and says she has learned so much about business, as well as developing a huge range of skills.

Best of luck to Jodie, and her teacher, Mr Kelleher.

"Success comes if you are prepared to put in the work", is Jodie’s advice to all entrepreneurs.
