BT Young Scientists
The school continues its fine tradition in the BT with five excellent research projects qualifying for the exhibition this year. The groups are as follows: Could hemp be the key to a sustainable future? - presented by Eabha Sheehan, Fia Hurley, Taragh Casey.
An investigation into the fat quality in chilled milk before pasteurisation and how long it stays suitable for human consumption. Orlaith Twomey, Jenny Kelleher.
Awareness of testicular cancer in young boys and men. Harry Lenihen, Darragh Casey, Donagh Murphy.
Herbal Leys: milk production for the future. Bevin Murphy, Omar Daly, Darren Kiely.
Where are the barriers that hinder Ireland's Greta Thunberg? David O'Brien, Una Healy, Finn Radamm.
They have all been put through their paces by the judges and the general public while presenting at their stands. They have also been featured in the media, with the Herbal Leys group getting a feature in the Agriculture section of the Examiner, while the Sustainable Hemp group got a mention on George Lee’s RTE website article as well as a front page article on The Examiner.
Well done to all groups on their fantastic research and on building skills through research and presentation, skills that will stand to them in the future.
