SkyDome visits MCS

The SkyDome - virtual tour through the universe- provided all students with a 3D tour of space, helping to understand the new insights provided by cutting edge science about our place in a vast universe. StarDome Portable Planetarium is CIT Blackrock Castle Observatory’s outreach astronomy tool on the road in Ireland in association with ESERO, the European Space Education and Resource Office. The experience blended the ancient view of the constellations, named after the gods, with the opportunities being opened up by space and satellite technology in this century. Students also discussed how space technology has given new views of our own planet and helped understand the environmental threats we face. The experience is part of the school’s commitment to STEM and to active learning.
