Junk Kouture
Junk Kouture- two fantastic performances!
Many congratulations to Junk Kouture fashion designers Emma, Alison, Julia, Tia, Rachel and Maggie, and to their teacher Mrs. Moynihan, who did themselves proud at the Regional Final in Limerick. Their meticulous preparation led to two outstanding performances on the night, where the concept, design, assembly and performance aspects of both projects came together perfectly. With 86 entries on the night, it was a fantastic opportunity to share ideas and fashion ideas with like-minded students from all over the country.
This national fashion competition is for outfits made from recycled materials. Emma, Alison and Julia’s entry is a spectacular creation, a ‘Pop Art’-inspired costume called ‘Popluxxy’.
Tia, Rachel and Maggie have created “Imperishable”- a dramatic outfit inspired by feminism. Bank of Ireland Junk Kouture has become the country’s leading fashion and art competition, challenging students to create unique, original and innovative outfits from recycled materials and developing skills in design, engineering and environmental sustainability.
Their experience and performance at the finals was fantastic and, as the school’s first entrants in Junk Kouture, they are an inspiration to future T.Y students.
