Bake Sale for SVP
On the 18th January T.Y. 2 held a bake sale in the canteen in aid of SVP homeless hostels. All cakes were either only 50 cent or €1, so all got a morning treat at fantastic value while supporting this most worthy of charities. Thanks to Mrs Randles and all in T.Y. Group 2 who organised this event as part of the school’s T.Y. Religion program, raising an impressive €333 to help run hostels for the homeless in Cork.
Mrs Randles T.Y. 1 group welcomed SVP worker John Warren to the school to give a talk on their work and, more importantly, on why there is a need for this work. He explained that many in our society are treated unfairly and struggle to survive as a result. He got the class thinking on aspects of social justice and how society needs to change to look after people, especially the most vulnerable.
