Leaving Cert Retreat

Leaving Cert. Retreat

The Leaving Cert. group braved the elements for the annual pilgrimage to the lakes and hills of Killarney. Despite the terrible forecast, the class travelled in hope of a few breaks in the showers and began with a visit to local place of prayer, Tubrid Well, which set the tone for the day of reflection and preparation for the challenges ahead. Then on to Ross Castle where they boarded the boats. Next stop, Inisfallen Island, was a miracle in itself as the entire class sheltered beneath a strawberry tree while a prolonged heavy shower lashed down on the lake. Grace Tambwe read the reflection here, loud and clear above the elements. The voyage continued as the day improved and all disembarked  at the Black Valley for lunch. The hike back through the oak woods was bracing, with Joni Tarrant’s rendition of “The Road Not Taken” giving all a welcome break. Canon Fitzgerald the celebrated Mass on the altar of the Cathedral, with help from readers Oskar Wolak, James Cronin, Tim Healy, Kaytlin Murphy, Shane Hickey, Gregorz Bala and Una Buckley. All were then whisked back to Millstreet after a refreshing day, ready to face the challenges ahead.
